Re: I am out of the contest!!

Hello,

Yes, I am out of the contest, but my weight loss journey in life will continue.

Though, I am no longer in the contest, I will continue to work at losing the weight that I gained.

I am so thankful for the News-Herald for giving me this opportunity to lose weight and be apart of this contest.
I want to personally thank LAURA KESSEL for all the various email updates, arrangements, and time that
she puts into this contest.
I also want to thank CORI, at Lake Health Department, though I was not too punctual, I enjoyed our monthly meetings.

I can not forget the GREAT FOOD AT Cabana's, I have enjoyed my weekly meals. I will continue to be a customer. I look forward to visiting your Chardon location when the weather warms up to sit outside and enjoy the local entertainment. THANK YOU, MICHEAL G. and MARY.

I will continue to work to find the balance between working out and food consumption.
Healthier choices will lead to a healthier you....

Re: One Week to Weigh-in

Hope everyone is doing well.

This week has been a good week.

Life is busy. Life will always be busy.
The lesson is to put your workout first and NOT cut your workout when things need to get done.
I need to follow my own thoughts here MORE often. I usually cut out my workout when things get busy.
Its easy and because its easy it seems to be the first cut.

I am realizing that working out is a way of life. It needs to get done on a daily basis, some activity needs to get done daily.

With one week left to lose 5 percent of my body weight. It will be a week of activity and better eating choices.
I will update you earlier in the week.
A good level of activity today. Good level of activity schedule for tomorrow (Sunday).

I will keep you posted...

Until next time,

Move More and Eat Less!

Re: Weigh in (Month 2)

Hello All,

Well, I see that my traveling has taken a toll on me this past week. Good news is that's the pass, and
I need to look and plan for the future.

I want to mention, and publicly THANK Jamie for allowing me to weigh in on Tuesday.
My weigh in on Tuesday was 293.6 (up this month).
My goal is now to lose the 5% this month, before the 27th.
Looking forward to making that happen.

I missed Cabana's on Tuesday, thankfully I did not miss weighing in...
I will look forward to next Tuesday at Cabana's. I did show some pictures of my entrees to people
when I talked about the good food and service to one of Jamie's clients. Jamie was also very positive and
provided me with encouragement for the next weigh in.  Thank You!

Until next time,

Re: Cabana's and Travel Tips Learned

 Hello Everyone,

I hope your March has gone well. Blink and it pasted.

This week, I had another great meal at Cabana's. I had the spicy Chipotle Shrimp. Very Good!!

Over the past few weeks, I have been traveling and I learned several lessons from the road.

1. Plan your Meals.

2. Pack Healthy Snacks

3. Research Hotels - especially with pictures of their fitness centers because the word "fitness center" means different things to different people.

4. Plan / Schedule workout times at hotel.

I met someone that is has juiced regularly during one of my recent hotel fitness room workouts. Before I go any farther, when I referred to "juice" I mean fruits and veggies.
So, now that's clear. His tip when juicing carrots, make sure you juice California carrots, as these are the sweetest. He also said, from his experience, not to consume 50 pounds of carrots in a week, as it can change your skin color a few shades. I guess the statement, "Everything in moderation" means something.

Moderation is a key to always remember.

Until next time,

Encouragement

Hello,

I hope everyone enjoyed their Irish Holiday, since I worked games, it was an alcohol free day.

I ended up stopping at Cabana's in the evening rather than our unusual lunch.
I was by myself and sitting at the bar, when another patron noticed the coupon that I gave
the server (Amy). He said, "Your in the contest too."

This opened up a wonderful discussion. We shared stories about work, family, travel, and food tips.
I wish I could have stayed longer, but I needed to pick up my daughter from practice. I enjoyed the conversation and time shared at Cabana's bar. Thanks Jim for the encouragement.  My daughter enjoyed her entire dessert (Warm Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream).

Food of the Week:
I recently bought a spaghetti squash to make with tomato sauce (homemade canned sauce). I will be buying spaghetti squash more frequently, like weekly. It was amazing!! It easily taste like spaghetti but without eating all the noodles and/or whole wheat noodles.  Try and Enjoy!

Until Next Time,

Move More and Eat Less.

Hotel Fitness Centers

Hello,

I hope everyone is doing well.

Last week, I found myself traveling for four days attending a 2 day work conference and a 2 day volleyball tournament with my daughter. At both events, I was able to workout in the both hotel's fitness centers.  I did have to set early alarms and be creative in finding the time to workout. It was very helpful that both hotels we stayed at had updated fitness equipment. I knew this and by planning ahead, I was able to keep up my workout schedule as I traveled.

Also, with the nice weather last Saturday, I was able to go for a long walk (30 minutes) around the sports complex. It was a nice paced path the went around the perimeter of the complex.  When we had time to wait before rebracketing a couple of dad's decided to get out of the gym and go for a walk.
It was relaxing yet helped add to my daily step total.

Cabana's is become a regular occurance on Tuesday's.
It is great healthy lunch which is filling and low in calories. This week I had the Chipotle Shrimp. I had this dish before. I really enjoy the seasoning and spices in which the shrimp are prepared.

Until next time,

Re: Three in a Row

Hello,

Yes, making the YMCA, this week three days in a row. A small victory after a short break from travel, busy schedule/(appointments), and my youngest's cold. But getting back into a routine of going to the Y to workout.

Tuesday Lunch at Cabana's becoming a routine too.
I think its a routine when Mary (server) is ready with our waters. She has ALWAYS provided great service and the food is great. Tuesday, I had the Fiesta Chicken (it has a hidden kick, as the chicken is dusted with a spices), good thing I like hot/spicy foods. My wife returned to the chicken scaloppini, its becoming one of her favorite dishes.

The warmer weather has me itching for being outside and running on the Lake Metroparks trail.

Until next time, Eat less and Move more
